Emergency Services

Wow – what an amazing fortnight we’ve had learning all about the emergency services!
We have some huge ‘nee naw’ fans so the children have been really enjoying themselves. We’ve made our very own doctors boxes, bandaged our poorly teddies up and practised our scissor skills to cut out our own ambulances. We’ve made the most of our dressing up boxes too!
All the children used our old phones and learnt to call 999 in emergencies. We decided to make some fire engine red jelly which the children loved breaking into pieces and working out how we could melt the cubes. We tried cold water first then when that didn’t work the children thought maybe hot should work.
The highlight has to be a visit to a local fire station where we got to sit in a fire engine, see all the hoses and water tanks and meet a lovely fire fighter. He even let all the children try on his hat!

I live and work in Royal Wootton Bassett a small market town in Wiltshire, England. I am married and have two children. My son and daughter attends Broad Town Primary School. As a childminder I strive to provide an environment where children are able to develop in a homely, caring setting. I aim to give the children in my care freedom to explore and experience activities in various locations, such as Forests, Museums, Farm parks and beaches to name a few.
